Blessed in Simplicity

In a village not far from where I live, a happy little family lives. They are far from luxurious life and worldly pleasures. But they are always smiling and grateful. This is evident from the way they welcome guests, giving sincerity and everyday behavior. Their simple house consists of only two rooms, one kitchen and one bathroom with a living room with no chairs. The head of the family only works as a teacher to study the children he collected in one of the rooms in his house, when he was an Arabic scholar from a state university. This man often says that he wants to eliminate the love of the world and dedicate his life only to the religion of God alone without forgetting the responsibility to support his wife's children by raising ducks. Actually a simple life has lived for a long time. Even during college, travel to campus he traveled by foot every day from his house to his campus in the city, which is about 20 km. He did it because of limited costs. If totaled, he t...

Be A God-Fearing Servant

In a Hadith Qudsi, there is a history of the reward God gave to those who fear Him. Rasulullah SAW said, "There is a man who never did virtue at all. The man testified to his family, 'If I die, then burn me to pieces ashes. Then, sprinkle part of ash on the mainland, and partly in the ocean. By Allah, if Allah comes to me, surely He will punish me with a torment that has never been inflicted on anyone in the universe! '   When the man died, his family executed what had been taught to them. Then, God instructed the land to collect ashes scattered on the land and ordered the seas to collect dust scattered in the ocean. Then Allah SWT asked the man (after being revived), 'Why do you do this?'. The man replied, 'Because I feared Thy Lord, and you know it better.' Allah SWT then forgives him.   The story in the hadith Qudsi is so interesting and full of wisdom. Someone who always commit immorality and never works good at all, still has the fear of...

Giving Away Our Most Loved Ones

One time I attended a lecture at a small mushalla. Ustad who gave a lecture at that time happened to raise a theme about infaq and alms. Nothing is too special from the content of this ustad lecture except the ordinary things that we have often heard in various recitation places and speeches on Friday. From the series of speeches delivered by this ustad there is a joke delivered by taking the example of a friend figure. One day, said the da'i, there was a friend who saw an old beggar sitting in front of a shop. Seeing the beggar, this ustad friend was touched his heart and reached into his pants pocket. When the sheets of paper were removed from his pocket red, he quickly put them back in his pocket. Apparently this ustad friend needs several times glanced into the money caught by his hand before finding a thousand rupiah sheet and give it to old men who long enough to raise his hand waiting for gifts. The jokes of the ustad made many people laugh. ...

When The Leaf Falls From Its Stem

If any man ever thinks that any of his deeds are beyond the reach of God's knowledge, then this estimate is mistaken and misses far away. Every deed, attitude, behavior, thought, even the whisper of conscience, are all under the knowledge of God. None of the attitudes, deeds, and behaviors of man can escape God's eyes. In the letter of Al-An'aam verse 59 Allah warns: وَعِنْدَهُ مَفَاتِحُ الْغَيْبِ لَا يَعْلَمُهَا إِلَّا هُوَ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ وَمَا تَسْقُطُ مِنْ وَرَقَةٍ إِلَّا يَعْلَمُهَا وَلَا حَبَّةٍ فِي ظُلُمَاتِ الْأَرْضِ وَلَا رَطْبٍ وَلَا يَابِسٍ إِلَّا فِي كِتَابٍ مُبِينٍ "And the keys of all the unseen are in Him; no one knows except Him. He knows what's on the land and in the ocean. There is no leaf falling down which he does not know. There is no grain in the darkness of the earth nor anything wet or dry, which is not written in a clear book (Lauh Mahfuzh). " The letter above g...
